Course Objectives

After completing this online course, substance abuse counselors will be able to:

• Understand and describe seven clinical guidelines for developing and maintaining successful therapeutic relationships with clients who have co-occurring disorders.

• Understand and describe six clinical techniques that enhance the effectiveness of working with clients who have co-occurring disorders.

• Incorporate clinical guidelines and techniques shown to be effective with clients who have co-occurring disorders.
